Brakpan Mine Rand Revolt 10 March 1922 Memorial


Also known as Anzac Memorial Brakpan and
the Brakpan Mine Garden of Remembrance.

Location
Adjacent to the Anzac suburb of Brakpan, Gauteng Province, South Africa.
In Main Reef Road, approximately 720 metres from the traffic circle at the intersection of Prince George Avenue and Main Reef Road, Brakpan, take the track to the left for approximately 185 metres.

GPS: 26 deg 13 min 3.6 sec S, 28 deg 21 min 17.6 E.

Significance
The Memorial commemorates 8 men who lost their lives on 10 March 1922.
They were defending the Brakpan Mine during the Rand Revolt in what has become known as the "Brakpan Mine Incident".

VICTIMS OF VIOLENT
INTERNECINE STRIFE
THEY VALUED DUTY HIGHER THAN LIFE
