16mm documentary film: "T.E. Lawrence"(Lawrence of Arabia)

T.E. Lawrence, who died prematurely in a motor cycle accident in England in 1935, is regarded as one of the controversial figures of the Century. To many of his own generation he was a heroic sort of Supreme Englishman, to some of later generations he was a charlatan and a fraud. This film, compiled from old newsreels, examines the man and the legend.

"THE RUSSIAN TUPOLEV AIR CRASH:EASTERNTRANSVAAL:19TH OCTOBER 1986"

A talk by COLONEL DES LYNCH, SAAF, SD, SM, on the event in which President Samora Machel of Mozambique was killed. Colonel Lynch was a member of the panel which investigated the crash,and represented South Africa in Russia.

An illustrated talk by MAJOR HELMOED ROMER HEITMAN, MA(War Studies), University of London,noted military authority,author and journalist.

To mark the Base's 50th anniversary, an Open Day will be held on Saturday 19th October.

Provided sufficient persons are interested, a Saturday afternoon outing to see what the hobby of playing "War Games" involves can be arranged. Non-members are welcome, so family/friends can be included.
