NOTICE OF THE 2026 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE KZN BRANCH OF THE SAMHS

Notice is hereby given that the AGM of the Branch will take place on Saturday 9th May 2025 at 1.30 for 2.00pm.

The venue will be St Cyprian's Church Hall where it will precede the presentation by Charles Whiting. It is not expected that the meeting will last longer than 15 to 20 minutes. Full documentation will follow.

Forthcoming Events

• 1. Due to the AGM the May meeting will feature only a main presentation  entitled "The Eagle's Nest"  given by Charles Whiteing and based around his visit to the site in 2008. Built above Hitler's holiday residence, it was a high security area which included a conference facility on top of the mountain.
• 2. The April Supper Club at St Cyprians is on Tuesday 28th April 2026 at 6.30pm.  The speaker is Fr Peter Houston and the topic is: Jan Smuts and the SA Jewish response to WWII. Fr Peter will explore therelationship of Jan Smuts to Jews in the lead up to and during the war. Learn why he was nick-named Janowitz Smutsowitz and how he responded to news of the holocaust. Fr Peter was previously Rector of St Agnes, Kloof and is apart from roles in the church the national leader of the church's Ministry to SA Jews and Centre Manager of the Durban Holocaust and Genocide Centre as well as a Research Fellow at Stellenbosch University. The evening consists of a supper of fish and chips and chocolate coated icecream dessert followed by the talk.  The cost is R100 pp payable at the door BUT RSVP IS ESSENTIAL FOR CATERING.  To register to attend please phone the church on 0312053710 or whatsapp me on 0844371636.
