Tour of Great War exhibits at Ditsong National Museurn of Military History, 19 October 2014

By Jan-Willem Hoorweg.

On Sunday, 19 October 2014, the Johannesburg branch of the SAMHS, went on a tour of our very own Ditsong National Museum of Military History in Saxonwold. On this tour, we were accompanied by fellow member, well known historian, and curator at Ditsong NMMH Hamish Paterson

The museum is far too big to take in everything there is to see on one visit, so Hamish concentrated on all exhibits pertaining to the Great War. It was a most informative and entertaining afternoon, and our party of around 25 people thoroughly enjoyed the visit

The huge lawns of the Museum provided the ideal place to have a picnic afterwards! The day proved so popular that the decision was made to come to the Museum again in the new year, maybe concentratirig on a different topic this time.
