Subsequent to the Annual General Meeting on 18 April 1990, Mrs Jenny Copley was appointed by the Committee as Vice-Chairman of the society, and Mr H R Paterson was nominated by the Military History Museum as its representative on the Society's Executive Committee in place of Cmdt O E F Baker upon his retirement at the end of September. Cmdt Baker will be sorely missed as his contribution to the work of the committee was invaluable. We wish him a long and happy retirement.

Members of the Society were saddened by the death on 23 July 1990, of Mrs Helen Murchison, an active member and the widow of the late Mr Roderick Murchison in whose memory the Roderick Murchison Memorial Prize is awarded annually to the best contributor to the Military History Journal during any one year.

No further tours or outings were arranged during the year. The Society's Braai, which is held at irregular intervals, took place on Friday evening 12 October. This is a pleasant informal function which is enjoyed by members who are thus given an opportunity to meet socially.

There follows a list of the Society's lectures for the year 1990:-
