"SOLDIERING IN THE MIDDLE-EAST IN THE NINETEEN-SIXTIES", a talk by CAPTAIN DAVID CHRISTIE, a former regular officer in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles).


THURSDAY 8TH FEBRUARY 1990

"THE BATTLE OF THE NILE (ABOUKIR BAY)", a slide-illustrated talk by MR. BOB LIGHTLEY on the battle in 1797 in which Napoleon Bonaparte's dream of conquering the Mediterranean, and India, was shattered by the actions of a British naval officer, Horatio Nelson.

Mr. Lightley is internationally renowned as a shipping authority, whose intricately detailed historical models covering a range of several centuries have not only been displayed in South Africa but abroad as well.
