PROPOSED SA MILITARY HISTORY SOCIETY TOUR OF COAST ARTILLERY BATTERIES ON SATURDAY 29 OCTOBER 1988 (STRICTLY MEMBERS ONLY, ACCOMPANIED BY WIVES AND CHILDREN) **

09h30: Tour group meets at Lion Battery on lower slopes of Signal Hill. See attached map. Access via Whitford Street.

Tour of the battery includes Time Guns, saluting guns, gun emplacements and magazines. Spectacular views of the City.

• 10h45 Depart for Apostle Battery Llandudno. Follow the coast road through Sea Point, Camps Bay etc. to Llandudno. The turn off is on the left of the main road opposite the Llandudno turn off.
• 11h15 - 12h15 Tour of the battery
• 12h15 - 12h45 Proceed to Hout Bay for lunch.
• 12h45 - 14h15 Lunch
• 14h25 - 15hOO Visit Hout Bay forts
• 15hOO - 15h30 Drive to Simon's Town
• 15h30 - 16hOO Visit Middle North and Upper North Batteries.
• 16h15 - 16h30 Visit Queen's Battery and Hot Shot Oven.

NOTES
1. No photography permitted in Simon's Town.
2. Photography at other venues permissible.
(* *) 3. Children under 15 years may NOT accompany this tour.
4. All members visiting SADF property do so at their own risk and are warned to take great care because there are many places where unwary visitors could be injured.
5. If you intend participating, please advise Major Tony Gordon telephonically at nn-nnnn after hours by not later than 26th October. The total number in your party should also be indicated.
6. An endeavour to make a suitable group luncheon arrangement has proved unsuccessful. Those attending should therefore either take along their own picnic lunch, or make their own restaurant arrangements (details of venues and costs can be obtained from Major Gordon.)
