TUESDAY 20TH MAY (NOTE CHANGE OF DATE & VENUE): Joint meeting with, and hosted by, the Cape Town Aviation Enthusiasts' Club, in the J.P. DUMINY ROTARY HALL, UNDER THE BRIDGE IN CAMPGROUND ROAD, NEWLANDS, NEXT DOOR TO THE ATHENAEUM. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the legendary Spitfire fighter on 5th March 1936, a video documentary feature, "THE SPITFIRE STORY", will be screened, and several former Spitfire pilots, including Captain Granger Heugh, DFC, former Town Clerk of Cape Town, will talk on the aircraft and will answer questions.
THURSDAY 12TH JUNE (at the customary venue, the DU TOIT ROOM OF THE ATHENAEUM, 154 CAMPGROUND ROAD, NEWLANDS): 16mm documentary film show:
(a) "Turn of the Century", a picture of Europe and its people at the turn of the 19th Century, illustrating a way of life which was destroyed by World War One, and explaining the forces which led to that War;
(b) "Cowboy in the White House", a biography of the legendary Teddy Roosevelt, to whom Franklin Delano Roosevelt was related; and
(c) "Liberation of Paris", an epic event of World War Two.

11 SEPTEMBER: an illustrated talk by Mr. Patrick Cullinan on "Colonel R.J. Gordon & his Diaries" (Gordon was the Dutch Commander at the Cape at the time of the First British Occupation, and later committed suicide).
