COMMTTEE MEETING.
7.15 p.m. at above venue.
NOTE:
It had been arranged that Professor J.S. du Plessis of Pretoria would speak on the Battle of Magersfontein, but unfortunately he will be in Rhodesia. Col. Peddle, who has studied this particular Battle in detail, has very kindly agreed to lecture in his stead.
LAST MEETING.
Our thanks to Professor M.C.E. van Schoor of the University of the Orange Free state, who visited Johannesburg to deliver a most interesting lecture on General de Wet.
Apart from the interest of his subject, he highlighted an aspect of the Society which deeply impressed us. This was that our members, whatever their backround, enjoy the study of Military History and the men who took part, and are able to admire or criticise irrespective of the political reasons for the battles.
FORTHCOMING LECTURES.
January, 1969. No meeting and no newsletter.
February 13th 69 Advocate M. Friedman. "Introduction to the American Civil War"
March 13th 69 Col. K.P. Pitts (a graduate of the U.S Military Academy, West Point.)
"The War in the West through Vicksburg."
April l0th 69 Col. K.P. Pitts "The War in the East before and after General Grant."
It looks as if we are off to a wonderful start.

As this is the last Newsletter of 1968, may I take this opportunity on behalf of the Committee, of wishing all members a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
PAT RICE.
HON. SECRETARY.
