CAPE TOWN BRANCH
NEWSLETTER NO. 336 - SEPTEMBER 2006

On our last Society Evening, 10th August, Rodney Warwick presented us with the third of his in-depth talks on South African History.

In March 2002 he spoke on the 1914 South African military invasion of German South-West-Africa, and in August 2003 on the 1915 battle of Riet and Pforte.

His third talk, dealing with more recent matters, was also extremely well illustrated, but in a sense much more thought-provoking than the fore-runners, in that he gave us a critical view on the many mistakes made by senior politicians and military leaders during a time of high tension on our sub-continent.

Unfortunately, due to time limitations the scribe regrets that it was not possible for him to produce an appropriate review of Rodney's talk, but this will follow in our October Newsletter.
