NOTICE OF JANUARY MEETING THIS SATURDAY 20th January, 2024
Apologies for the short notice and belated Season’s Greetings and best wishes for 2024.
This notice comes to you from a somewhat freezing but at least no longer rainy and wet UK where my wife and I have been visiting our family.
The first meeting for 2024 of the KZN Branch of the SA Military History Society will take place THISSATURDAY 20th January 2024.
To open the year, we will have a DDH starter consisting of an introduction presentation followed by videos which will cover some recent and some past history.
“HOW THE CANADIAN PARLIAMENT WAS EMBARRASSED BY UKRAINE’S HISTORY”.
The main talk is by our Pacific War specialist, Roy Bowman who will give an illustrated presentation on:
“HALSEY'S TWO TYPHOONS OR HOW JAPAN NEARLY BEAT THE U.S. NAVY”
A reminder that extreme weather conditions have been with us always!
Both presentations cover interesting but lesser known events, so we look forward to a good turnout.
The starting time is 1.30 for 2.00pm. (early start due to load shedding at 4.00pm).
The venue remains the St Cyprians Church Hall off Umbilo Rd, with secure parking and liquid refreshments available for cash from The Vicar's Alms.
Entry is free but donations of R10 for each of a raffle and car guard are requested from all attendees.
Regards
Phil
