South African Military History Society

CAPE TOWN BRANCH

MARCH 1986

The next two meetings take place as indicated below, commencing at 8 p.m., in the DU TOIT ROOM OF THE ATHENAEUM, 154 CAMPGROUND ROAD, NEWLANDS.

THURSDAY 13TH MARCH: "THE TOBRUK RUN", a talk by Mr. Louis Ribbink on the navy's role at Tobruk during World War Two, based on some of his personal experiences.

THURSDAY 10TH APRIL: Annual General Meeting, followed by a 16mm documentary film feature, "FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT", dealing with the life and times of the 32nd President of the United States of America, with particular emphasis on his role during World War Two.

Praised by many for his major contributions to history, he has been condemned by others who blame him for the chaos imposed on Europe by his obsession that Russia should become a partner in a post World War Two Grand Alliance, a belief that led to the permanent enslavement of over 100 million people behind an "Iron Curtain".
