The next two meetings take place as indicated below, commencing at 8 p.m., in the DU TOIT ROOM of the ATHENAEUM, 154 CAMPGROUND ROAD, NEWLANDS.


THURSDAY 14TH MARCH 1985: "THE FALKLAND WAR", a video documentary programme (but a different feature to that presented in March 1984).

THURSDAY 11TH APRIL: Annual General Meeting followed by a 16mm documentary film feature, "MAN OF STEEL", which looks at Joseph Stalin in relation to the history of his country, from before the Russian Revolution up to the aftermath of his death. ADVANCE NOTICE:

Thursday 9th May: "FOR KING AND COUNTRY", an illustrated presentation by Major Daryll[sic] Hall, currently the Society's National Chairman, on an Uncle of his who died as a young man in France during World War One whilst serving as an army officer.


BOOKSHELF: The Cape Town Branch of the Friends of the S.A. Air Force Museum Association has approximately 40 second-hand books with a military theme available for sale for Association funds, viz. published in 1899: "An Englishman with the United States Army"; published in 1900: "The War in Cuba"; published in 1916: "Gallipoli" by John Masefield; published in 1920: "Mr. Lloyd George and the War"; published in 1941: "Carry on London", etc. Enquiries: contact Dick Hellyer, n Spin Street,Rosebank 7700 or telephone him after hours at 69-nnnn.


190TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF MUIZENBERG: The Muizenberg Conservation Society seeks the help of someone versed in the diplomatic and political issues of the above event, to join with 2 others being sought separately who will be dealing with the naval aspect & local on-site issues respectively during a proposed lecture/walking tour as part of the Cape Town Festival, possibly on Easter Monday, 8th April. Enquiries or offers of help to Mr. Ryan, the Society's Chairman, telephone 88-nnnn (Home).

The same Society would also appreciate the donation, loan, or loan for copying purposes of items or documentation relating to Muizenberg's earlier history
